Job Description for Animal Care Technician

Dog Care
- Vet runs as necessary
- Give medication if needed and fill out medication board
- Clean and sanitize inside kennels – remove towels, toys and bowls
- Feed and water
- Wash bedding and all bowls
- Clean and sanitize outside kennels
- Clean drainage ditch outside
- Clean play yard
Cat Care
- Vet runs as necessary
- Give medication if needed and fill out medication board
- Clean cages – clean towels, scoop litter box and sanitize
- Feed and water
- Wash towels and toys
- Sweep and mop entire cat room
Daily Shelter Cleaning
- Laundry – folded and put away
- Sinks in laundry room wiped down
- Washer/Dryer wiped down
- Garbage emptied from all areas of the Shelter
- Clean bathroom – wipe down counter and toilet
- Sweep and mop bathroom and front office
Other duties
- Assists customers who are seeking lost pets and those interested in adopting.
- Responds to questions about specific animals and adoption process
- Observes and evaluates animals for signs of illness and reports symptoms to appropriate personnel
- Covers front office as needed during lunch or appointments
- If time allows choose a different dog everyday to groom and spend extra time with
- Cleans vehicles and equipment used in transporting animals
- Assists with inventory and restocking supplies
- Runs errands as necessary
- Any other duties deemed necessary
Ways to support the Director of Marketing and Public Relations:
* Assist in getting information out to the public by sharing Facebook and Instagram posts and other info about TCRAS
* Support the marketing of events and share info about TCRAS by sending approved information to local calendars, websites, news organizations, etc. * Attend TCRAS events, interact with the public and help spread the message and mission of TCRAS * Help create / provide material to post on Facebook and Instagram to connect to the public and continue to generate support for TCRAS * Provide content that can be added to the website as appropriate to keep the website fresh, current and important info is easy to find * Help with content for the newsletter for updates and to help generate support for the shelter, depending on the current needs and happenings * Take photos, get descriptions of available animals and current needs at TCRAS, that can be shared on social media To find out more, please email Angie@tcras.org |
