Lost and Found

TCRAS is the only animal shelter in Teller County, and we house the lost and found animals in Teller County. If you are missing a pet or have found a pet, please check under each tab to see if it has already been reported. We also highly recommend posting the lost or found animal on the Facebook Page Teller County Lost Pets Page, and reporting the animal to Teller County Animal Control.

Stray Cats vs. Outdoor Cats / Community Cats

In Teller County, cats are allowed to “roam free’ - there is no ordinance prohibiting this like there is for dogs. That can make it hard to know if you are seeing a “stray” or "lost" cat or if it is a neighbor’s cat who is allowed to be outside and is not in need of help. We want to help lost cats reunite with their families.

If you find a stray cat, we ask that community members take some steps to try to find the owners before bringing the cat into the shelter. Fill out a lost pet report on the website, post the info on Facebook on the Teller County Lost Pets page, and post the info on NextDoor if you are local. If you see a cat that is sick, injured or distressed, have other questions or need further assistance, please contact TCRAS by calling 719-686-7707.
