Dr. Daniel Heimerdinger
Past Board President
Daniel Heimerdinger, Ph.D., Former Board President. Dr. Heimerdinger has been a member of the TCRAS Board since 2010. He is the principal owner of Exostrategies, Inc., a professional services company focusing on space operations. Dr. Heimerdinger was appointed in 1995 to oversee the US/Russian joint space program for NASA and has been awarded NASA’s two highest medals of service, NASA’s Distinguished and Exceptional Public Service medals, and a Russian Space Agency Commendation for International Collaboration. Dr. Heimerdinger received his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Aeronautics and Astronautics and his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University.
Dan came to TCRAS as a Board member because he believes in the services TCRAS offers within the community and the Pikes Peak region. Dan’s focus as the board president is to carry out the non-profit’s mission and to strengthen the business by gathering statistics on the services provided, emphasizing fundraising, improving financial management, and streamlining operating practices. When Dan’s Australian Shepherd/Border Collie, Sam, passed away, he made a contribution to hire an individual dedicated to fundraising, which resulted in the ability to expand the shelter and carry a three-month operating cushion.
Dan has adopted six family members from TCRAS over the past 12 years. Dan loves the older animals and considers himself a foster “failure” —every pet he has fostered became a permanent family member.
