About the sponsor:
Running D Ranch has been active in Teller County for over 20 years as a horse training and clinic business owned and operated by Mark and Debbie Bibb. One of their passions is rescue animals as their dog Max and their Percheron horse as well their barn and house cats are also rescues. Clyde is a rescued donkey from Saving the Wild American Burro which ties in with the TCRAS mission of rescuing animals. He represents the mining heritage in our region and the use of burros in the mining industry. He has also been an ambassador for the Equestrian Skills Course in El Paso County Parks and participated in the Lighter Side of Christmas Parade in two editions, winning Most Unique Entry in 2021. |
Campaign Promise:
Clyde says “I will bring visibility and attention to all rescue animals with a distinctive visual presence that very few rescues have in public.”
History / Biography of the Candidate:
Clyde was rescued as a 3-year-old from Trinidad by Saving the Wild American Burro. For 2 years Clyde worked with 4-H youth and SWAB volunteers to learn his basics for being handled safely, leading, walking in parades and pack burro racing. In 2019 Clyde came to Teller County to live with Mark and Debbie Bibb at Running D Ranch. Clyde has continued his education of pack burro racing (the official state sport of Colorado) and wilderness packing for camping. Throughout this time Clyde has also worked diligently as an ambassador for Friends of the Equestrian Skills Course where he has promoted the Equestrian Skills Course in El Paso County by appearing at their fundraising Spring Fling Poker Ride and Run and raising funds with his “Clyde’s Kiss My (Donkey) Photo Booth” where fans can have their Christmas picture taken with Clyde for a small donation. During his ambassadorship, Clyde has even appeared on KOSS Channel 5 News and Fox 21 News Loving Living Local segments. Clyde also shared his story with many people along the backcountry of Yellowstone last fall as he joined his horse buddies for a pack trip in the Yellowstone wilderness.
Candidate’s favorite activities:
Eating and napping with his buddies along with putting smiles on faces of adults and children everywhere he goes while sharing his story.
Quirks, funny things about the Candidate:
LOVES peppermints and carrots. Will go to great lengths to avoid crossing water or mud if possible. Guaranteed to make you smile no matter what the day is throwing at you - if he brays you simply cannot keep a straight face.
Anything else?
Clyde would be honored to be a candidate and help promote TCRAS. He’s had a break since his fundraising photo booth for the Equestrian Skills Course and is ready to pound the pavement, shake hooves and kiss babies (well maybe not all of that, but definitely to pound the pavement and meet and greet his potential electors - he has kissed a baby or two).
