How To Volunteer
We WELCOME new volunteers! Here is how to get started:
|
Steps to Becoming a Volunteer
- After we have received your application and you speak with the Volunteer Coordinator, you will be invited to the next scheduled Volunteer Orientation, which is a 90 minute, in-person, small group meeting to provide background about TCRAS and how the volunteers work in the shelter.
- After Orientation, you will receive some Training Videos to watch online, a brief quiz to complete, the Volunteer Manual to read and several Volunteer Agreement pages to sign. The quiz and signature pages need to be sent in to TCRAS. (If you are under 18, please have your parent or guardian sign these pages).
- Once the Volunteer Coordinator has all of your information and signature pages she will contact you to set up an on-site visit to get you started in the area(s) you would like to work. This visit will provide you with more information and some hands on experience with the dogs and/or cats. Once this is complete you are welcome to visit the shelter during any of our open hours and begin making a difference in the lives of many dogs and cats.
The Volunteer Coordinator and shelter staff are always available to assist you and answer any questions you may have! We are happy to have volunteers working with us at the animal shelter and appreciate everything you do!
