LEARN MORE

Napoleon and his mother, Misty, began life facing overwhelming odds. What started as a very difficult beginning nearly ended before it truly began, when the two mini donkeys found themselves on a truck headed for “the big pasture in the sky.” At the very last minute, fate intervened. They were rescued by kind-hearted individuals who would later become the now owners of the historic Hotel St. Nicholas in Cripple Creek.

For many years, Napoleon and Misty lived a peaceful life on 75 acres in Craig, Colorado, safe and loved. When that property was eventually sold, their future once again became uncertain. Not willing to give up on them, their owners transported the donkeys to Cripple Creek, where Napoleon and Misty lived in a fenced backyard, waiting to see what their next chapter would hold.

It didn’t take long for them to hear the buzz about becoming a world-famous Cripple Creek donkey. Curious and clearly ambitious, Misty and Napoleon were ready to sign up. As fate would have it, in August of 2025, the Two Mile High Club officially adopted both Misty and Napoleon into the Historic Cripple Creek Donkey herd.

Now, in 2026, Napoleon’s journey has come full circle. From a near-tragic beginning to becoming a cherished member of a historic nonprofit herd, Napoleon represents resilience, hope, and the power of community. His opportunity to run for Mayor of Divide is a celebration of survival, legacy, and destiny, and a reminder that sometimes the most unexpected candidates make the biggest impact.
