I am a Colorado native!! As a child, I spent many happy days exploring with my brother at our family cabin in Florissant. I graduated from Colorado State University (Go Rams!) with a B.S. in Construction and Interior Design with an emphasis on Public Relations and held many positions in the corporate world in Business Development at a local hospital, Senior Pharmaceutical Sales Consultant and Real Estate Broker.
More About Jodi...
I vowed that once I left the corporate world, I would never go back! In order to fulfill 2 of my passions at once, I started a dog running business and spent several years running the trails with so many furry friends. We moved to Woodland Park in 2000 because we wanted to raise our family in a small town. I am fortunate to have a wonderful, funny & supportive Husband and 2 amazing daughters that are the light of my life. We enjoy living in the mountains as it provides us the opportunity to trail run, camp, ski, mountain bike and just enjoy nature as a family. Most weekends, you will find me driving all over creation to watch my daughters play soccer! We have 2 rescue pups, Koa & Doolin and they bring so much joy to our family with their happy spirits and funny antics! I have always gravitated towards animals as my passion lies in helping as many as possible. I would have a houseful if I could! I was so fortunate to come across an opportunity at TCRAS and I’m thankful every day to work with such amazing co-workers as the Volunteer, Grant and & Donor Coordinator and it is my DREAM JOB! I invite you to come in and tour TCRAS, meet our shelter guests and see what our Volunteer program has to offer. Our volunteers have a direct impact on each of our shelter guests regardless of the area they volunteer in and there’s no better feeling than that. |
Marji grew up in a 5 generation Colorado family- many of whom hold animals dear to their hearts. Raised on a horse breeding ranch, she was surrounded by young horses, rottweilers, shelties, kitties, and ferrets. The family was a rescuer of all creatures in need- raccoons, skunks, fox, dogs, rabbits, cats, and horses. As a child, she and her brother spent a lot of time packing horses in to camp with her father John who was a Colorado hunting guide.
More about Marji...
At 4 years old Marji rode barrels in Little Britches rodeo on her Shetland Pony, Gingerbread. As a teenager she and her young stallion, Alcazar, garnered national recognition as a champion. In 2010 she moved to Buena Vista to become a trail guide at Mount Princeton stables and open her business, Pilates of Buena Vista. Her considerable interest in health and wellness inspired her more than twenty year engagement in successfully managing large recreation facilities and programs for Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock, and Breckenridge. She holds certifications as an expert in: yoga, pilates, paddle boarding, cycling, and personal training. Marji’s college degree in business encouraged her to open her own athletic training center and work specifically with physically challenged athletes for the National Sports Center for the Disabled and the Challenged Athletes Foundation. Her facility, Mountain Fitness, also trained Olympic cyclists and triathletes while partner testing with the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine. In 2016, Marji solidly directed her energies toward animal care when she became the General Manager for The Animal Doctor, a broadly focused vet clinic which provides ER services, preventative care, boarding, day care, grooming and acupuncture, in Broomfield. In 2019 she became Development Director for Planned Pethood, an internationally focused effort centered on reducing the overpopulation of pets through spay/neuter, and home of the popular Animal Planet show “Dr. Jeff Rocky Mountain Vet”. Marji has been tirelessly engaged in business management and promoting the health and wellbeing of people and animals. She is an established organizer, recruiter, fundraiser, social media point of contact, website developer, grant writer, operations and budget manager. She is a skilled program developer, communication director, customer service agent, trainer/supervisor and operations and budget manager. Nonprofit and for-profit businesses have benefited from her expertise and drive. We can confidently state that Marji is a broad thinker, an independent woman, a person with a heart for the wellness of Beings. But all of that aside, Marji describes herself first as a grandmother of two boys, Elam and Tucker, mom to her daughter Nicole, and soon to be wife of Dr. Jeff Baier, DVM now working with Dr. Volz at the Animal Clinic of Woodland Park. |
